It seems the protagonists are grown up and are preparing for war with the creatures of the Upside Down. One of those creatures appears to be a human-Demogorgon hybrid that can speak.
“A war is coming. Your friends in Hawkins are very much in the eye of a storm,” Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is told. “I don’t know how to say this other than just to say it. Without you, we can’t win this war.”
Earlier seasons of the show primarily focused on the world of Hawkins, Indiana. The new season, however, is set to bring the story across multiple locations, from California to Russia.
While most of the gang is in Hawkins, Eleven and the Byers family have moved to California in an effort to keep safe. Jim Hopper (David Harbour) is also alive — albeit not exactly well. He’s imprisoned in Russia.
Vol. 1 of Stranger Things season 4 arrives on Netflix May 27, with Vol. 2 arriving July 1.
